Serious Game for onboarding within the safety of VR.

About this project:

This serious game design project consisted of gameful VR training courses with different challenges for key stakeholders and new employees. The goal of this game was to educate and train players about the spaces and equipment in a refinery without safety risks and without the need to be on-site.

Since high engagability was a priority and having the solution accessible from locations distant from the actual refinery, we opted to develop a virtual reality (VR) game. This medium allowed for high immersion by allowing players to explore the spaces just like they would do it if they visited the place in person.

The VR game that presented Escape Room challenges to the players that encourage the players to learn about the processes and proper use of machinery. The whole experience is situated in a space that accurately depicts the location’s layouts and equipment.

Delivering the Game

We worked on Unreal Engine to create immersive spaces and make the players feel present in this space. The use of VR allowed us to recreate how people interact with the devices in the space, by using their hands and touching and grabbing the virtual world.
